Easter Camping

For the past few years I've been wanting to go camping over Easter weekend.  Madi and Chris both get good Friday off and spring is such a great time to camp in Texas.  Well, we've never actually made it.  A couple years ago we did one night, but rain and other family commitments have always gotten in the way.  This year, though, we were successful!!

It was wonderful!

It rained on us the first night, but we stayed 95% dry.  Only a few drips made it into our tent.  Thankfully the kids slept through all the rain, even when there was a little bit of thunder!  Our kids love camping.  There's something about being outdoors, free to roam and make messes that makes them seriously happy!!

A few of our camping happenings:

Jaxon and Colton too hot dog roasting very seriously.

We enjoyed lots of Daddy time!

The big kids and I went on a fun hike!

Madi won a fishing pole at the campground Easter Egg Hunt!!

We found some wild flowers and decorated Madi's hair!

We did some fishing off the pier.  The people we were fishing by were so wonderful and patient with our loud, curious children!

Colton LOVED his "Lightning Too-Tween" rod, until it broke

We ate breakfast outside and every other meal of course.

We had our own Easter egg hung at the campground.

Colton had it all figured out!

We did some more fishing.  more fishing!!  I love that Madi isn't too girly to get out and get dirty

We had a little visitor on one of our Easter eggs, yuck!

The kids had more than enough sugar!

I gave Colton hugs.  He loved it, obviously.

He did love his candy, though!

The kids had an awesome time at both egg hunts!

We went fishing three times, this was the only dumb fish we caught, kind of anti-climactic.

We wanted to bring bikes, but didn't have room.  The kids loved their scooters, though!

Madi pretty much rode her scooter the whole time!

We had wonderful, perfect weather all day Friday and Saturday and both nights.  Then Sunday morning, right after breakfast, it started raining.  And thundering.  And hailing a little bit.  Thankfully we were all taking showers before church, so we were indoors.  We were able to make it to sacrament meeting, though.

After we went to church we packed up and headed home.  We made it back in time to prepare some food and join our cousins for Easter dinner!

And here are a few pre-Easter pics.  I tried to avoid dying eggs this year, mostly because no one in our family likes hard boiled eggs, but Madi remembered and I caved.  One carton of eggs is worth the fun!

Colton really enjoyed himself!  He kept grabbing as many eggs as he could!

Madi and Jaxon were thrilled with their work.  Colton was unimpressed.

Here is a good picture of the kids in their Easter clothes!  They talked me into giving them their clothes the weekend before Easter since we were going to be out of town.
